Installing 7 Raised Beds

Installing 7 Raised Beds

This was a huge project to build, deliver and install 7 raised beds

This project took us amost 3 weeks to complete. It stared with me getting a pallet of Western Red Cedar from my supplier delivered to my shop. I've got a video about the build on this if you're curious.

Sizes: We build three beds that were 4'x12', two beds that were 4'x8', one bed that was 10'x4' and one very tricky bed that featured an "L-Shape". This last bed was about 11' long by 6' on one side and 3' on the other side. All the beds were 18" tall.

Construction: All our beds start with single-length 2" thick Western Red Cedar and are surfaced to ensure they fit snugly together. We used lap-joints on our corners and screwed them together - in fact on this project we used over 500 screws... that's a lot of screws! We filled all those screw holes with a food-safe putty (interior) and wooden plugs (top cap).

Treatments: We treated the inside with a food-safe sealer and the outside with Behr Clear penetrating oil.

Delivery & Installation: Combined, these beds weighed more than a ton, that's a lot of cedar! I had two helpers with me and it was an all day project. While the final customer was "Jeri", my actual customer was Matt Harned over at Pioneer Land & Water. We worked closely to make sure the beds were all placed properly and level!

Thanks Jeri and Matt!
